Another great San Diego Indiefest for the books. San Diego Indiefest 9 was held on Saturday March 28, 2015 in its new home in the San Diego community of City Heights. The City Heights Community Park and Recreation Center Lawn was host to this year’s event.

SanDiego Indiefest features and celebrates national and local independent musicians, artists, and visual artists. It is always a family friendly and eclectic environment showcasing music, film, art, comedy and local businesses.

An active leader in the San Diego Indie music scene and founder of Say it Records, Danielle LoPresti founded San Diego indie fest over 10 years ago. With a passion for social causes, Alicia Champion teamed up with Danielle Lopresti to create what is now the revolutionary and history making San Diego Indiefest. Over the years the pair has given many artists a platform in which to challenge the belief that music and art must avoid socially conscious topics to be accepted and entertaining.

San Diego Indiefest has grown since its debut in 2004 in the San Diego Community of Bankers Hill. After a few more moves through North Park and Liberty Station this year it settled down in City Heights.

This new location in City Heights offered a more intimate atmosphere and diverse crowd then previous years. A major drawback to this location was the limited number of stages 3 from 4 stages of previous years. That extra stage would allow more experience to new local independent artists and equally more exposure to new fans. Another negative was parking, it was always difficult to find. Bigger visible signs to available Indiefest parking would have assisted in this matter. Just some things to think about for San Diego Indiefest 10.

Can’t wait to see the lineup for next year.

San Diego Indiefest is sponsored by Durga Sound, San Diego’s Local Independent Radio 91X , Today’s Hit Music on Z90.3, MSI Production Services, Rock to Stop Violence and many more.

There were many artists performing through the day. The Durga Sound Main Stage featured many great independent artists whether you like R&B, reggae, electronica, alternative, rock, country even a little latin. There was a little bit for everyone.

New York based group, Bear Hands headlined the night, and local Latin Alternative Rock group, Todo Mundo had the crowd up and dancing. With a fresh urban pop sound, Paige Bryan attracted a new fan base. A Mayfield Affair lead vocalists Erin Lancaster and Ryan Woosley were turning up the folk country charm. The crowd favorite of the night seemed to be local alternative Country rock group, Dead Feather Moon. Dead Feather Moon is a two time winner for Best Alternative Album in 2012 and Best Alternative Band in 2014 at the San Diego Music Awards.
